5 Healthy Weight Loss Tips: A Marathon, Not a Sprint

Losing weight is hard. It’s a journey that requires both physical and mental effort, and it’s not always easy to stay motivated. That’s why it’s important to remember that weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. Here are five tips to help you stay patient and motivated on your weight loss journey:

1. Focus on the system not the goal.. It’s important to set realistic weight loss goals so that you don’t get discouraged. A good goal to start with is to lose 5-10% of your body weight. However, it’s your system that’s going to lead to sustainable results. Crash diets, and extreme measure may quickly get you to your goal but they are not sustainable which leads to constant yo-yo dieting.

2. Be patient. Weight loss takes time, so it’s important to be patient. Remember, aggressive weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. Most people you see who have amazing bodies have been working on it for years!

3. Be consistent. Consistency is key to success when it comes to weight loss. Try to make healthy choices most of the time and stick to your exercise routine. Focus on whole-food plant based options 80-90% of the time.

4. Find a support system. It’s helpful to have a support system to help you stay on track. This could be friends or family members who are also trying to lose weight, or a weight loss group.

5. Persevere. There will be setbacks, but it’s important to persevere. Don’t give up if you have a bad week or slip up. Just get back on track and keep going.
